THE JOURNEY

Dacosta Horatio Pennerman

On November 4th, 1984, a bright light entered the world with the birth of Dacosta Horatio, born to Mazilee McKenzie-Knowles & Ian Pennerman. From the very beginning, Dacosta carried a spirit that was both brilliant and joyful, qualities that would define his life and leave a lasting

imprint on everyone he encountered.

Dacosta was known for his intelligence and quick wit. As a young man, he excelled academically at Prince Willian High School, earning the honor of valedictorian. Yet even with his remarkable achievements, he never lost his playful nature. He was also the class clown. The one who could lighten any room, bring laughter in the most unexpected moments, and remind others not to take life too seriously. This rare balance of brilliance and humor made him unforgettable.

He carried that same dedication and personality into his professional life. Dacosta devoted 20 years of service to the Bahamas Power and Light Company. His commitment, hard work, and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and the appreciation of all who worked alongside him. He was not only a dependable employee but also a source of encouragement and positivity in the workplace.

Dacosta was a proud “Rolleville Man”. He would visit his home settlement in Exuma every summer from a young child to a grown adult. He found great joy by going home and spending time with his extended family and friends.

In 2019, Dacosta found one of his greatest joys when he married the love of his life, Sasha. Their union was built on love, partnership, shared dreams and the love of travel. Together, they created a beautiful life, which was further blessed with the arrival of their precious daughter Shiloh, whom he affectionately called his little alien. Becoming a husband and father brought Dacosta immense pride and happiness. He cherished his family deeply, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.

Dacosta had a deep love for creativity and self-expression. He was a talented TikTok creator who brought smiles to many through his engaging and entertaining content. Whether through humor, storytelling, or simply being himself, he had a unique ability to connect with people far and wide. His passion for the arts also led him to the stage, where he performed in theatre plays, captivating audiences with his presence and talent. Creativity was not just something he did, it was a part of who he was.

Dacosta’s life was one filled with purpose, laughter, and love. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and uplifted. Whether through a joke, a kind word, or his quiet strength, he left a mark that will never fade.

Though his time with us feels far too short, the legacy of Dacosta Pennerman lives on—in the memories we hold, the laughter we still hear, and the love that continues through his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Today I want to pay tribute to my brother-in-law, who was so much more than family to me. He was like a father figure - someone I looked up to and felt safe around.

He was one of the most joyful people l've ever known. He lived life without fear and always brought light and laughter wherever he went. As a father, he was truly amazing. The love he had for his daughter was beautiful, and every father should strive to be like him.

I'm going to miss him more than words can explain. Life will never feel the same without him, and I'll always miss the little moments and jokes we shared.

Rest in peace. You will always be loved and never forgotten.

Danielle (Sister-In-Law)

Costa, our trio has now become a duo since you’ve taken your heavenly wings. From Rolleville Regattas to boat cruises and family gatherings, we always captured that trio photo; memories we will cherish forever.

You lived proudly in your “Mangra skin,” a true reflection of your strength, character, and pride. You were a hard worker and a devoted  husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Loved not only by those who knew you personally, but by many who felt your impact from afar.

Though you are no longer here, your presence will always be with us. In every moment, every memory, and every photo, you remain our third. Rest peacefully, Costa, you will forever live in our hearts.

Collective Memories

My dear brother,

I can’t believe I’m writing this. Never did I imagine losing you so soon. I always called you my little brother, and you’d laugh and say, “I’m your big brother—get from round here.”

We shared so many joyful moments—joking about not sitting together at funerals because we’d end up laughing, your FaceTime “mistake” that made my whole day, and when you came to Miami, I wore camo just because I knew you loved it.

You were such a light—always making people laugh, even when you were hurting. Your absence has left a deep space in our hearts, and in our “La Familia” chat.

You, Dacosta—my sweet brother—will always be remembered for the love and joy you brought into our lives. Shine bright in heaven.

Love you forever,

Terrinique (Sister)

Today we say goodbye to a beautiful soul who left us far too soon. Costa you were fun, loving, and full of laughter, simply the kind of person who could light up any room with your smile and energy.

You brought so much joy to our lives, and being around you was always a gift. Though your time here was short, the love and happiness you gave will stay with us forever.

Our hearts ache knowing your gone, but we’re grateful for every moment we shared. Your laughter, your spirit, and your love will never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, our dear sweet nephew. You will always be loved and deeply missed.

Audrey, Paula & Marsha (Aunts)

When I think about Dacosta I think about joy, smiles, hugs, and laughter. I think about peace and not confusion. I think of a wonderful father, son, brother, husband, and friend. His calm but witty responses when faced with negativity. I will always love, miss, and cherish you my big little brother. I know you and daddy are looking down on us smiling. Don't worry we got Shiloh and Sasha. Love you big sister...

Adassa (Sister)

After 16 years of love and laughter, you are no longer here, and I feel a void that words can hardly express. Our home was always filled with your laughter, your endless jokes, or the familiar sound of your shows echoing through the rooms. Now, there is a silence that feels so heavy, a quiet that reminds us just how big your presence was. We have experienced so many mountain highs and valley lows together, yet through it all, we remained a stronghold for one another. That bond, that love, is something I will carry with me always. You were not only my husband, but my partner, my comfort, and my safe place. We miss you so much. Our lives will never be the same. Love you forever. *Until the last nail knock….
